Jobless claims jump last week

Washington (Reuters)-United States claims that the new unemployment benefits rose unexpectedly last week to their highest level since January a recovery expected in the work may take some time, a Government report showed on Thursday.

Initial claims for State unemployment benefits jumped to 25,000-seasonally adjusted data, from 404,000 slightly upwardly revised the previous week, said the Department. Economists polled by Reuters had expected coming of claims to browse to the-392,000 previously reported, according to 403,000.

Jobless claims below 400,000 are associated with a steady growth.

Four week moving average a better measure of the underlying trends, climbed to 408,500 from 399,250 the previous week. It was the highest for four weeks since February.

The number of people still receive benefits under programs normal mode after the initial week of aid tumbled more than expected in the week ended 68,000 April 16 to 3.64 million, the lowest level since September, 2008. Analysts expected a drop in the continuation of 3.68 million.
